MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631072300 A) filed by Kalinga Institute Of Industrial Technology Kiit Deemed To Be University on June 10, 2026, for Neonatal Nasal Prong With Anatomical Stabilization Loop.

Inventors include Nayak, Pallavi; and Sahoo, Purnima.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: A neonatal nasal prong device (100) includes a pair of nasal prongs (102) configured for insertion into nostrils of a neonate, and an integrated anatomical stabilization loop (104) positioned between the pair of nasal prongs (102). The stabilization loop (104) is configured to rest beneath a nasal septum of the neonate and engage with a natural contour of the nasal septum to provide passive stabilization of the nasal prongs (102). The stabilization loop (104) utilizes the anatomical structure of the nasal septum as a stabilization point rather than relying on adhesive fixation or headgear compression. The pair of nasal prongs (102) and the stabilization loop (104) may be formed as a single-piece integrated structure from medical-grade silicone. The stabilization loop (104) may provide a self-centering function that maintains symmetrical alignment of the nasal prongs (102) within the nostrils. (Fig. 1)
