Abstract: A cane (100) for assisting navigation of a visually impaired user is disclosed. The cane (100) includes a cane body (102), an ultrasonic sensor (104), and infrared sensors (106) positioned to detect an obstacle, and a control unit (108) operatively coupled to the ultrasonic sensor (104) and the one or more infrared sensors (106). The control unit (108) receives obstacle detection signals, detects an obstacle within a predetermined distance, determines a directional position of the obstacle, assigns a navigation priority, and selects a predefined audio instruction stored in a voice playback circuit (110) for output through a speaker (112). In addition, activation of a switch transmits a geographical location to at least one computing device during an emergency. The cane (100) provides directional obstacle awareness, intuitive navigation guidance, and emergency location communication, thereby facilitating safer mobility and independent navigation in indoor and outdoor environments.
