MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531028952 A) filed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited on March 27, 2025, for Narrow Gap Tig Welding Apparatus For Tube-To-Tube Orbital Welding Machines.
Inventors include Ravibharath Rajanbabu; Kannan Selvaraj; Siva Ramu; and Balasubramanian Nagarajan.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a narrow gap Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding apparatus (100) having an orbital machine adapter (1) wherein threaded hole (3) is configured for connecting to an orbital welding system. Further a shielding gas system having a primary shielding gas hole (2) in the adapter (1) for directing gas to the torch and an additional port hole (4) is implemented to enhance shielding gas supply. In said apparatus a gas passage (5) distributing gas from the threaded hole (3) to both sides of the torch’s gas path wherein a gas diffuser (6) is implemented to ensure smooth gas flow and prevent turbulence. Also a tungsten electrode (9) centrally positioned within the torch and secured by a screw (8) and a metallic torch body with a machined gas path covered by a 1mm metallic sheet which is secured with screw (7). {Figure 1}
