Abstract: The present invention relates to a nanostructured multi-layer coating configured for application on biomedical components requiring enhanced surface performance. The coating comprises a plurality of nanostructured coating layers arranged successively over at least a portion of a biomedical substrate to form a protective multi- layer surface structure. The coating provides a combination of high surface hardness, corrosion resistance, and reduced friction. The nanostructured configuration provides a controlled surface architecture for improving surface durability and mechanical resistance of the coated biomedical component. The multi-layer arrangement provides protection against mechanical degradation and corrosive environmental effects while maintaining a low-friction exposed surface during relative movement or mechanical contact. The coating forms a protective interface between the biomedical substrate and its external operating environment. The number, arrangement, and thickness of the coating layers may be selected according to the requirements of the biomedical component. The resulting coated component provides a surface architecture suitable for biomedical applications requiring improved resistance to wear, corrosion, and friction during operation.
