MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641099663 A) filed by J. J. College Of Engineering Technology on August 18, 2026, for Nanoparticle-Based Automated Self-Cleaning Coating And Contamination Detection.
Inventors include Dr. T. Mohandas; Dr. P. Mathiyalagan; Dr. M. Meena; Dr. R. Kaliammal; Mr. K. Vinoth; Dr. G. Parvathy; and Mr. A. Iruthayaseelan.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The current reported invention bridges an automatic nanoparticle based self-cleaning coating with contamination detection system along with automatic cleaning. The lens coated with nanoparticle significantly reduces the adhesion of dust and remove moisture, fingerprint, scratches. These nanoparticle coded lens having the phenomena like anti-static, anti-fogging hydrophobic, oleophobic and 10 less abrasion. The sensing unit is continuously monitors and detect the contamination present over the lens, transmission of optical signals and give the output signal to the microcontroller. Then the microcontroller triggers the cleaning assembly unit which is configured to employ ultrasonic oscillations and/or electrostatic forces for removing the accumulated contaminants from the 15 lens surface. The cleaning process is automatically stopped after getting the clarity of lens. The present invention provides the better optical performances, reduced the manual maintenance and better lifespan of lens. This system may be applicable in all optical instruments like in photographic and digital cameras, mobile cameras, telescope and all medical imaging devices.
