MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631093331 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Jamshedpur on July 31, 2026, for Nanofluid-Assisted Thermal Management System For Battery Modules.
Inventors include Md Ashique Hassan; and Piyus Kumar Upadhyay.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to a nanofluid-assisted thermal management system for battery modules is disclosed. The system includes an enclosed body (102) housing a plurality of vertical cylindrical battery casings (104) arranged in a staggered zigzag configuration with alternating rows and columns to establish thermal contact battery cells. A network of internal cooling cavities (106) is coupled through the enclosed body and interspersed around the casings to define a continuous fluid flow path. This network is coupled to multiple inlets (108) and outlets (110) via a gasket arrangement to uniformly distribute a single-phase nanofluid coolant, creating an integrated conduction-convection matrix. The cooling cavities form an interconnected fluid circulation network with successive cavity segments that repeatedly alter coolant flow direction through alternating longitudinal and transverse sections. Conductive material bridges within the enclosed body establish parallel heat conduction paths, ensuring uniform, multi-directional heat extraction and eliminating isolated fluid pockets during continuous coolant circulation.
