Abstract: ABSTRACT NANOCRYSTALLINE RIFAPENTINE, ITS COMPOSITION AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF The present disclosure provides a nanocrystalline rifapentine, wherein the nanocrystalline rifapentine exhibits an X-ray powder diffraction (XPRD) pattern 5 comprising characteristic peaks at 2? values of 7.783°, 8.63°, 10.929°, and 10.984°, when measured using Cu Ka radiation. Further, the present disclosure provides a method of preparing the nanocrystalline rifapentine as disclosed herein, the method comprising: a. dissolving rifapentine in a solvent; b. adding an antisolvent to precipitate rifapentine to form crystals; c. ultrasonicating the rifapentine crystals in 10 the presence of a surfactant to form nanocrystals; and d. lyophilizing the nanocrystals to form a nanocrystalline rifapentine. Furthermore, the present disclosure provides an injectable extended-release pharmaceutical composition comprising the nanocrystalline rifapentine as disclosed herein.
