Abstract: The present invention relates to a nanocellulose-based device for cancer biomarker detection, which incorporates tryptophan-modified gold nanoparticles (Trp-AuNPs) as the primary sensing component. These nanoparticles exhibit unique optical and electronic properties, including surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and are integrated within a nanocellulose matrix that serves as a biocompatible and biodegradable scaffold. The nanocellulose matrix ensures the uniform distribution and stability of the Trp-AuNPs, which are chemically modified with tryptophan to provide specific binding sites for cancer biomarkers. This configuration allows the Trp-AuNPs to remain in close proximity to the biomarkers, facilitating detection even at low concentrations. The device may further include a diagnostic platform designed to house the Trp- AuNPs and nanocellulose matrix, allowing for easy access to the sensing material. The invention involves detecting cancer biomarkers using Trp-AuNPs in nanocellulose for optical or electronic diagnostics.
