Abstract: Nano-Coated Water Purification Strips for Rapid Contaminant Removal and Safe Drinking Water This invention describes an ultra-thin, nano-coated biodegradable water purification strip designed for the instantaneous removal of heavy metals, organic pollutants, and microbial contaminants from water. The system integrates metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for heavy metal chelation, activated carbon nanoparticles for organic contaminant adsorption, polymeric ion-exchange resins for toxic ion substitution, and antibacterial nanocoatings for pathogen neutralization. Upon immersion, the strip initiates a multi-stage decontamination process, operating without external power, filtration infrastructure, or chemical additives. The biodegradable cellulose substrate ensures environmental sustainability and single-use efficiency, while its lightweight and compact form enable easy storage, transport, and deployment. Laboratory testing confirms 99% heavy metal removal, 95% pesticide adsorption, and 99.9% bacterial elimination within one minute. The invention is particularly applicable to emergency response, humanitarian aid, and off-grid potable water security, offering a cost-effective, scalable, and environmentally responsible solution for global clean water access.
