MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621086917 A) filed by Bharati Vidyapeeth College Of Engineering, Navi on July 16, 2026, for Nano-Activated Basalt System And Electrochemically Accelerated Method For Permanent Carbon Dioxide Mineralization.

Inventors include Dr. Vaishali Narendra Agme; Dr. Sandhya Jadhav; Prof. Manoj B. Mandake; and Dr. Madhav Namdevrao Waghmare.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The current invention is related to an advanced sophisticated process and integrated reactor system that uses nano-activated basalt to sequester carbon dioxide (CO2) more quickly and permanently. In contrast to traditional basalt carbonation methods or natural weathering, the innovation greatly increases mineral carbonation kinetics by introducing controlled mechanical activation, electrochemical amplification, and optional bio-catalytic acceleration. With better industrial scalability, decreased reaction time, and increased efficiency, the method transforms CO2 into stable carbonate minerals.
