MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641109304 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Palakkad on September 11, 2026, for Multipurpose All-Terrain Mobile Manipulator For Rubber Plantation Operations.
Inventors include Ajay Krishnan V; and Santhakumar Mohan.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a multipurpose all-terrain mobile manipulator (100) for rubber plantation operations. The multipurpose all-terrain mobile manipulator (100) includes an all-terrain mobile base (108) movable over uneven terrain of a rubber plantation, a robotic manipulator (102) mounted on the all-terrain mobile base (108), and a vision-based target identification system (106) carried by the all-terrain mobile base (108). The robotic manipulator (102) includes an end-effector interface that releasably couples a selected end-effector from a plurality of interchangeable task-specific end-effectors, including a gripper end-effector (104). The vision-based target identification system (106) identifies a location of a plantation target, the plantation target being a rubber tree or a latex collection cup. Based on the identified location, the robotic manipulator (102) positions the selected end-effector relative to the plantation target and performs a corresponding rubber plantation operation, including latex collection or rubber tapping.
