MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641074228 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 15, 2026, for Multimodal Stress Detection System Using Instrumented Computer Input Devices And Method Of Operation.

Inventors include Jayakumar K; Ponharish Kumar. J; and Dheeptha R.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a multimodal stress detection system (100) for mental stress detection and adaptive wellness intervention during computer interaction. The system (100) comprises a computing device (102) having a processor (104) and a memory (106), an instrumented keyboard assembly (130), and an instrumented pointing device (132). The processor (104) executes a signal acquisition module (110), feature extraction modules (112, 114, 116, 118), an error stress score module (120), a multimodal classification module (122), and an adaptive intervention module (124). The system (100) acquires keystroke timing data, force measurement data, electrodermal activity data, and inertial measurement data, generates multimodal stress-related features, computes a composite error stress score, performs multimodal classification to determine stress states and predominant stress origins, and generates adaptive wellness interventions. Processing operations are executed locally on the computing device (102), enabling privacy-preserving, real-time stress monitoring without wearable devices or cloud-based processing.
