The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a Multimodal Edge Security Appliance (M.E.S.A. Xpert) for real-time detection and mitigation of synthetic, artificially generated, manipulated or suspicious communication content. The appliance comprises an audio acquisition arrangement, FPGA-based processing arrangement, host processing arrangement, visual-channel interface, multimodal decision-fusion arrangement, threat assessment arrangement and physical mitigation arrangement integrated within a substantially self-contained edge-based security appliance. The appliance acquires communication-related acoustic information and performs hardware-assisted digital signal processing for extracting acoustic features including Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) and acoustic phase-related features, which are transferred to a host processor for machine-learning inference. Where visual information is available, visual characteristics are additionally analysed and combined with acoustic inference information to determine a unified threat probability, confidence value or threat classification. Upon satisfaction of a predetermined threat criterion, the appliance activates a relay-based physical mitigation arrangement configured to provide a warning and/or selectively interrupt the monitored communication path. The appliance further comprises a cryptographic audit mechanism configured to generate a session record, calculate a SHA-256 cryptographic hash corresponding to the session record and locally store the record and associated verification information. The invention thereby integrates edge-based audio processing, machine-learning inference, multimodal threat assessment, physical communication mitigation and cryptographically verifiable local auditing within a single appliance, enabling real- time security processing while substantially reducing dependence on external cloud-based processing.
