Abstract: MULTILAYERED, MULTIFUNCTIONAL WOUND HEALING PAD AND A METHOD THEREOF The present invention relates to a multilayered, multifunctional wound healing pad and a method thereof. A novel multi-layered, multifunctional wound healing pad comprising three functional layers is designed to provide accelerated wound healing, antimicrobial activity, fluid absorption, and odour control. The invention features an electrospun wound healing layer containing acteoside isolated from Strobilanthes alternata, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), sodium alginate (SA), and neomycin sulphate, which separates from the basal cotton layer upon exposure to wound exudate to cover and heal the wound. The second layer comprises a super-absorbent sodium alginate sponge, with acteoside, that absorbs wound exudate relative to its dry weight. The third layer contains activated charcoal blended with PVA for odour adsorption. A melt-blown polypropylene insert prevents fluid migration between layers. The multi-layered construct is mounted on an adhesive medi-tape with a sterile release paper. The pad demonstrates 100% wound healing in 10 days compared to 70% with controls, provides antimicrobial protection, and allows continuous use for four days without changing, offering an economical solution for advanced wound care.
