Abstract: The present invention relates to a multilayer smart packaging system configured to visually indicate product usability through controlled environmental colour degradation. The system comprises a packaging body integrated with a time-responsive colour layer, a diffusion-regulating layer, and an optional protective coating configured to regulate environmental exposure. The colour layer comprises environmentally responsive compounds adapted to undergo progressive and irreversible degradation upon exposure to oxygen, humidity, light, or temperature. The degradation rate is calibrated through regulation of layer thickness, permeability characteristics, dye composition, coating porosity, and environmental sensitivity. Progressive colour degradation corresponds to predefined usability intervals and visually indicates fresh, near-expiry, and expired conditions. The system operates without electronic circuitry or digital components and is adaptable for food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, medical, and other time-sensitive products
