MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641103831 A) filed by Chennai Institute Of Technology on August 28, 2026, for Multi-Sensor Automotive Event Data Recording And Crash Detection System.

Inventors include Dr N Vinoth; Jonam C Jaison; and Vikram Prakash M.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The titled invention discloses a multi-sensor integrated automotive event data recording and crash detection system comprising an On-Board Diagnostics interface (2), inertial measurement unit (3), impact sensor (4), microcontroller unit (5), GPS module (6), real-time clock module (7), non-volatile storage module (8), communication module (9), backup power supply (10), LCD display (11), and relay control unit (12). The On-Board Diagnostics interface (2) acquires real-time vehicle parameters, while the inertial measurement unit (3) and impact sensor (4) provide motion and impact information. The microcontroller unit (5) performs multi-parameter analysis and confirms a crash when multiple predefined conditions are satisfied within a specified time window. Event data including vehicle parameters, timestamp, geographic location, and sensor outputs is continuously recorded in the non-volatile storage module (8) and protected against overwriting or modification. Upon crash confirmation, the communication module (9) transmits an emergency alert including crash information and location. The backup power supply (10) maintains operation during power interruption.
