MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088583 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University on July 21, 2026, for Multi-Layer Pressure-Redistributing And Breathable Cushioning System For Head-Worn Devices.
Inventors include Akshat Jerath; Versha Verma; and Annu Yadav.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: A cushioning system for a head-worn device has, from the skin outward, an upper breathable skin-contact layer (1), a load-spreading textile distribution layer (2) of three-dimensional spacer fabric, a fast-recovery sponge layer (3), a segmented support foam layer (4) and a lower support base (5) which is flexible in bending but substantially inextensible in plane. Margins of the load-spreading textile distribution layer (2) are anchored to the lower support base (5) outside the loaded footprint of the headband structural interface (6), and the channels between the foam segments leave no continuous foam path from that footprint to the base. Headband load therefore deflects the layer (2), which carries part of the load as in-plane tension to the anchorages beyond the footprint. The channels also form ventilation paths that stay open under load.
