MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641072293 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 10, 2026, for Multi-Layer Healthcare Asset Authentication And Behavioural Threat Mitigation Architecture Using Nfc Validation, Machine Learning Analytics, And Immutable Audit Ledger.
Inventors include Dr Priya V; Rahul D; Somesh S; and Varun A.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a multi-layer healthcare asset authentication and behavioural threat mitigation architecture integrating NFC-based identity validation, cryptographic challenge-response authentication, behavioural analytics, machine learning-driven anomaly classification, adaptive threat mitigation, encrypted communication, and immutable audit recording. The architecture validates healthcare assets and authorized users through secure NFC authentication and HMAC-based integrity verification using nonce-generated challenge-response mechanisms. Behavioural activity associated with authentication events is analyzed using multi- dimensional machine learning evaluation to distinguish legitimate healthcare operations from malicious attacks including brute-force activity, credential stuffing, replay attacks, distributed intrusion attempts, and cloned asset access. Upon detection of suspicious or malicious activity, adaptive mitigation actions including access restriction, IP blocking, multi-factor authentication escalation, and session termination are autonomously executed. All operational events are securely recorded within tamper-resistant audit storage. The invention improves healthcare cybersecurity resilience, reduces false positives, maintains uninterrupted clinical operations, and enhances forensic accountability.
