MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641078781 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 25, 2026, for Multi-Camera Pedestrian Crowd Monitoring System For Anomaly Detection And Adaptive Route Optimization In Closed Environments.

Inventors include Valarmathi B; R V Thejesh; and R. Keerthivasan.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a multi-camera-based monitoring system (100) for pedestrian crowd detection, anomaly identification, crowd-density assessment, alert generation, and route optimization within closed environments. The system (100) comprises a computing device (102) having a processor (104) and a memory (106) storing executable instructions. The processor (104) executes plurality of modules (108) configured to receive and analyze visual data from multiple monitored zones, detect and classify pedestrians and other objects, identify abnormal conditions, evaluate crowd-capacity conditions, generate alerts, and provide route recommendations. The system (100) further supports reporting of surveillance gaps, monitoring interruptions, blind-spot conditions, and camera-failure conditions. The system (100) maintains historical records of monitoring events, crowd conditions, alerts, and detection information for review and analysis, thereby improving operational safety, pedestrian-flow management, congestion mitigation, surveillance coverage, and monitoring efficiency across monitored environments.
