Abstract: ABSTRACT MUFFLER INTEGRATED WITH VIRTUAL SOUND GENERATING SYSTEM FOR A HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE The present disclosure relates to a muffler integrated with virtual sound generating system (10) for a hybrid electric vehicle (200). The assembly includes a muffler (300), a tail pipe (400) having first, second and third ends, and a virtual sound generator assembly including an upper cover (102), a mounting baffle (104), a virtual sound generator (106) comprising a PCB and a speaker, a sealing baffle (108), and an outlet cone (110). The first end (401) of the tail pipe is connected to the muffler (300), the second end (402) receives the virtual sound generator assembly, and the third end (403) discharges exhaust gases and virtual sound to the atmosphere. The virtual sound generator (106) operates in a first operating condition to emit an exhaust sound during vehicle start-up and low-speed operation, and is automatically deactivated in a second operating condition, thereby providing seamless transition between electric and engine operating modes.
