MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611086935 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Mandi on July 16, 2026, for Mqtt-Enabled Hardware-In-The-Loop Digital Twin System And Method For Energy Optimization.

Inventors include Dr. Mubashir H. Wani; and Professor Dipankar Deb.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an MQTT-based Hardware-in-the-Loop Digital Twin System and Method for Real-Time Supervisory Optimization and Control of Cyber-Physical Energy Systems. It includes an edge computing system configured to capture real-time disturbance signals and feedback from the physical system, an MQTT communication layer configured to time-synchronize the disturbance signals on an event-driven basis, and a disturbance vector generation component configured to create an efficient disturbance vector. In addition, the Digital Twin State component updates the state of the cyber-physical energy system, and a surrogate assisted optimization component generates and evaluates the candidate supervisory control actions. High-fidelity simulation component selectively validates the candidate actions and gives feedback to adaptively train the surrogate model. Lastly, the supervisory decision component chooses a representative knee solution among Pareto-optimal solutions and generates a supervisory control command in a rolling horizon closed-loop manner, which helps lower computation cost and improve adaptive control of the energy system.
