Abstract: A motor-driven retractable greenhouse roof system comprises a structural framework including vertical support columns (1), side support posts (3), load-bearing rafters (2), and support ropes (9) extending between adjacent rafters (2). A flexible film cover (7) is operatively coupled to the support ropes (9) through slide carriers (13), mechanical engagement fasteners (40), and reinforcement straps (50) to facilitate guided movement of the film cover (7) between open and closed positions. A drive mechanism includes a vertically movable slider assembly (16) mounted on a drive support column (6), actuation cables (8) routed through pulley assemblies (6a, 6b, 15), including pulley assemblies (15) positioned at roof ridge regions, a leading-edge pipe (11) connected to the film cover (7), and a motor assembly (24) coupled to a gearbox assembly (22) for displacing the film cover (7). A rear slider assembly (16) carrying one or more counterweight assemblies (26) is connected to rear portions of the actuation cables (8) to maintain cable tension and assist closing of the film cover (7). Multiple roof bays may be synchronously operated through a common drive shaft (25) or independently controlled.
