MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641112650 A) filed by Dr. S. N. T. Sunitha; Dr. Y. Aparna; and Dr. L. N. Sharada on September 19, 2026, for Morpholine-3-One Based Schiff Base Metal Complexes And Process For Preparation Thereof.

Inventors include Dr. S. N. T. Sunitha; Dr. Y. Aparna; and Dr. L. N. Sharada.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to morpholine-3-one based Schiff base metal complexes and processes for preparation thereof. A Schiff base ligand comprising 4-(4-((2- hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)amino)phenyl)morpholin-3-one is prepared by condensation of 4-(4-aminophenyl)morpholin-3-one with 2-hydroxy-3- methoxybenzaldehyde. The Schiff base ligand is coordinated with a metal ion selected from Cu(II), Co(II), and Ni(II) to obtain corresponding metal complexes. In embodiments, the metal complexes comprise the metal ion and the Schiff base ligand in a metal-to-ligand molar ratio of 1:2. The disclosed complexes are characterized to determine structural and coordination characteristics thereof. The metal complexes exhibit interaction with DNA, including intercalative DNA binding and DNA cleavage activity, and further exhibit biological activities including cytotoxic, antioxidant, and antimicrobial activities. The disclosure thereby provides morpholine-3- one based Schiff base coordination complexes, corresponding ligand, processes for their preparation, and biologically relevant properties thereof.
