Abstract: A manufacturing monitoring system (200) for monitoring manufacture of a composite part and a method relating to the same are disclosed. The composite part is made from a plurality of structural elements (220) laid into a mould (210) in a predetermined sequence, and each of the structural elements (220) have an identifier (224). Each identifier has a plurality of symbols (225a, 225b) varying by shape and at least one of position and orientation on respective structural elements (220). The system (200) includes at least one image sensor (120) configured to collect image data of the identifier when a structural element (220) is laid into the mould (210) and a monitoring sub-system. The monitoring sub-system is configured to: receive image data from the at least one image sensor (120); determine from the image data whether the structural element (220) in the mould (210) is correct by detecting an identifier (224) on the structural element (220) from the image data, and comparing the detected identifier (224) to an expected identifier (220) derived from the predetermined sequence; and output an indication as to whether the structural element (220) is correct.
