MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641072839 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 12, 2026, for Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Electrochemical Biosensor For Methylglyoxal Detection.
Inventors include Anjaneyulu U; and Bala Agnishwaran.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT MOLECULARLY IMPRINTED POLYMER ELECTROCHEMICAL BIOSENSOR FOR METHYLGLYOXAL DETECTION An electrochemical biosensor (100) for detecting methylglyoxal comprises a glassy carbon electrode (102) having a working surface. A molecularly imprinted polymer thin film (104) is disposed on the working surface of the glassy carbon electrode (102), wherein the molecularly imprinted polymer thin film (104) comprises a photo-polymerized polymer matrix formed from a functional monomer and a cross-linking agent. A plurality of molecular recognition cavities (106) are formed within the molecularly imprinted polymer thin film (104), wherein the molecular recognition cavities (106) are configured to selectively bind methylglyoxal molecules.
