MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088584 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University on July 21, 2026, for Modular Sandal Having An Interchangeable Heel And A Dual-Lock Coupling.

Abstract: A footwear assembly (100) has a sole assembly (10) with a socket (20) whose bore (22) carries cam tracks (24), each having an axial entry slot (26), a helical draw zone and a terminal self-locking zone ending in a detent recess (28). A heel module (200) has a spigot (220) with radial cam followers (222). Sectored annular magnets (30, 230) on the sole assembly (10) and the heel module (200) attract axially and turn the module into the single orientation in which the followers register with the entry slots (26). The terminal zone lies below the angle of friction, so the load is carried in bearing by the followers and the joint cannot be back-driven; the magnets only register the module and hold the followers in the detents. Release needs a simultaneous lift and counter-rotation.
