Abstract: A modular measurement scale comprises of a flat elongated body 101 with evenly spaced measurement marks developed to be hand-held by a user, a curved-shaped flap 102 attached with lateral length of the body 101, for allowing the user to rest palm/ finger between the body 101 and flap 102, two hinges 103 integrated in between the body 101 and flap 102 for providing angular movement to the plate 106, a laser beam projection unit 104 mounted on the body 101 for projecting straight lines that guides the user in aligning the body 101, an inductive proximity sensor to detect presence of metallic objects in measurement path of the body 101, a robotic link 105 attached with the body 101 to extend and position a curved-shaped plate 106 attached with the robotic link 105 over the metallic object, in view of shielding the user’s hand.
