MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611084172 A) filed by Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University on July 09, 2026, for Modular Gait Monitoring And Footstep Energy Harvesting Flooring System.

Inventors include Sundus Afza; Shifa Nawaz; and Anjali Bhaskar.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a modular gait monitoring and footstep energy harvesting flooring system comprising a rigid base, a sensing layer comprising a heel-region transducer, an arch-region transducer and a forefoot-region transducer, a signal-conditioning circuit and a microcontroller unit. The transducers generate respective time-varying electrical signals representing localized ground reaction force during a footstep. The signal-conditioning circuit defines a waveform branch arranged to provide the signals before energy storage and a power branch comprising a rectifier and an energy-storage component arranged to convert energy derived from the footstep into stored direct current energy. The microcontroller unit is coupled to the waveform branch and energisable from the power branch to determine an arch-loading value and a heel-to-forefoot time relation from the respective signals and to output a gait-condition indication.
