The modular femoral stem (100) further includes a neck portion (104) extending upwardly from the proximal part (108), the neck portion (104) including an insertion hole (106). Further, the modular femoral stem (100) includes a plurality of slots (304) circumferentially formed around the distal part (110) of the stem body (102) and a plurality of ribs (112). The modular femoral stem (100) further includes a central rod (116) configured to be inserted through the insertion hole (106) of the neck portion (104) and a distal cap (114). The central rod (116) is configured to be impacted after implantation to cause the plurality of ribs (112) to extend outwardly from the plurality of slots (304).
