Abstract: A modular earthquake-responsive gate system for emergency shelter comprises of a rectangular-shaped frame 101 for installation at a door-opening of a dwelling, hydraulic rods 102 are installed on outer periphery of frame 101 and integrated with a rotating mechanism 103 for insertion rods 102, a tactile sensor integrated with each of rods 102 to detect hardness of wall, an electric motor coupled with a conical-shaped member 104 integrated within rotating mechanism 103 to rotate, a rectangular gate 105 integrated with frame 101 via multiple hinge mechanisms 106 to get opened or closed, a sensing module embedded with frame 101 detect and measure intensity and frequency, a pair of hydraulic links 107 installed on bottom portion of frame 101 to extend and insert, an impact sensor configured to detect threshold impacts applied to gate 105, a GPS (Global Positioning System) module linked with microcontroller for fetching location coordinates.
