Abstract: A modular climatic test rig (100) for validating a rotating cooling component includes a test chamber (102) defining a controlled air path, and a modular test mounting interface (104) for removably mounting a test article including a fan (106) and motor (108). An aerodynamic load emulator (110) includes a variable open-area array (112) for adjusting flow resistance and a distributed face-mapping sensor array (114) for measuring pressure or velocity across an effective flow area. A perimeter leakage emulator (116) establishes a controllable bypass flow path. A climatic conditioning subsystem (118) includes a hot blower (120), mistifier (122), and dust injection mechanism (124). A flow measurement module (126) measures volumetric flow. A controller (130) controls the variable open-area array (112) and perimeter leakage emulator (116) in closed loop to match a stored target pressure-drop-versus-flow characteristic and controls the climatic conditioning subsystem (118) to achieve predetermined setpoints.
