MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641092914 A) filed by Kalasalingam Academy Of Research And Education on July 31, 2026, for Modular Additively Manufactured Optical Alignment Platform With Guided Multi-Axis Positioning For Sp.
Inventors include R. Balaji; Naidu Dhanpal Jayram; A.; and S. Sankararaman.
The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: The titled invention discloses a mechanically guided modular optical alignment platform fabricated using additive manufacturing and configured as a Raman spectrometer system. The system comprises a predefined geometry-encoded base structure (212), a laser mount assembly (201), a beam splitter mount assembly (202), a focusing lens mount assembly (203), a sample stage (204), a focusing lens 2 mount assembly (206), a slit mount assembly (207), concave mirror mount assemblies (208, 210), a diffraction grating mount assembly (209), and a detector mount assembly (211) arranged according to a predetermined Raman optical-path geometry. The modular mount assemblies incorporate constrained multi-axis adjustment mechanisms, including guided slots, sliding structures, and coordinated spring-opposed and screwdriven positioning mechanisms that enable controlled, repeatable, and mechanically stable alignment of optical components. The predefined geometry-encoded base structure mechanically guides placement of the modular assemblies, thereby reducing dependence on optical breadboards, manual measurements, and iterative alignment procedures. A protective spectrometer casing (900) and outer casing (932) further provide structural protection and minimize external light interference. The invention enables deterministic optical alignment, simplified assembly, modular reconfiguration, improved alignment repeatability, enhanced portability, and user- friendly operation, making the Raman spectrometer suitable for educational, research, and experimental applications while significantly reducing system cost and alignment complexity.
