Abstract: MODULAR 72V 2WD SYSTEM WITH HIGH-TORQUE PMSM FOR COMPACT OFF-ROAD VEHICLES This invention presents a modular 72V two-wheel drive (2WD) electric powertrain and chassis architecture optimized for compact off-road vehicles. It features a segmented roll cage with hybrid joints for dynamic scalability and easy repair. Uniquely, the reinforced battery enclosure acts as a semi-load-bearing structural member to redistribute impact loads and reduce overall vehicle weight. Internal frame cavities safely house high-voltage wiring and cooling ducts, offering inherent environmental and EMI protection. A high-torque Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drives the system, managed by an integrated Smart BMS and FOC controller. This intelligent setup executes real-time adaptive torque remapping, thermal derating, and terrain-responsive modulation to maximize traction and efficiency across rugged, unpredictable environments.
