Abstract: The invention relates to an effective biodegradable sanitizing and/or disinfecting material comprising a chemically modified fibrous cellulosic substrate and a cationic sanitizing and/or disinfectant composition loaded onto and within said cellulosic 5 material. Chemical modification of the cellulosic substrate reduces adsorption, and thus depletion, of the cationic agent, increasing the effective amount of biocide available to inactivate microorganisms during product usage. Also provided is a kit of parts suitable for making the sanitizing and/or disinfectant material, a method or producing the sanitizing and/or disinfectant material, and the use of sanitizing and/or 0 disinfectant material to sanitize and/or disinfect a surface.
