The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a modified bitumen product incorporating biochar derived from agricultural waste and HDPE plastic waste. The biochar is produced by co-pyrolysis of groundnut shell and HDPE in predetermined weight ratios of 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, and 60:40, and is pulverized to a particle size below 75 µm. The pulverized biochar is dispersed into a base bitumen binder via high-shear mixing at a dosage of 3–15 wt.% of bitumen to obtain a biochar-modified binder for flexible pavement applications. Based on storage stability and binder performance evaluation, the formulation designated as G7H3 (GS:HDPE = 70:30) at 12 wt.% biochar is identified as the optimum composition. The optimum binder is further used for Marshall mix design of DBM-II, yielding a significant increase in Marshall stability versus conventional bitumen, thereby providing a sustainable, high-performance road construction material.
