Abstract: ABSTRACT MOBILE DEVICE AUTHENTICATION FOR VEHICLE ACCESS AND START Embodiments relate to a system and method for remote vehicle access and engine start using wireless communication between a user equipment, such as a smartphone, and in-vehicle components, without requiring a push-button start or Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS) controller. The system comprises a Telematics Control Unit (TCU) configured to receive encrypted operation requests from the user equipment and relay them to a Body Control Cluster Module (BCCM) within the vehicle. The BCCM verifies primary authorization through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) pairing with a key fob and performs secondary verification of the key fob’s presence within the vehicle using Low-Frequency (LF) signals through an immobilizer. Upon successful dual authentication, the BCCM transmits a start signal to an Engine Control Module (ECM) to initiate the engine. The system incorporates continuous monitoring of the key fob during operation, ensuring enhanced security by terminating the engine if the key fob is removed. This invention reduces hardware complexity by eliminating PEPS controllers and push-buttons while improving user convenience and system security. FIG. 3A-B
