MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621066267 A) filed by Dr. Susmita Kumari; and Dr. Ayush Sharma on May 26, 2026, for Minimally Invasive Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Spinal Fusion With Large-Footprint Cage For Tubular Approach.
Inventors include Dr. Susmita Kumari; and Dr. Ayush Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion system and method, comprising a large-footprint interbody cage configured for posterior insertion through a tubular transforaminal corridor, the cage having a length in the range of 35-50 mm, a maximum breadth of approximately 15 mm with tapering ends, and a height in the range of 8 mm to 14 mm, a straight insertion attachment detachably connectable to the cage and a rotational insertion attachment selectively connectable to the cage such that the cage is configured to be inserted in a first orientation using the straight insertion attachment and thereafter rotated within the disc space using a reverse orthogonal maneuver via the rotational insertion attachment to achieve a substantially horizontal orientation providing wide vertebral endplate coverage.
