Abstract: Abstract The present invention provides digital grossing forceps incorporating a pair of arm with proximal sensor region housing capacitive linear encoder, and a distal detachable atraumatic tip module that can be sterilized independently. One arm of the linear encoder has a scale and the opposing arm has a reader head fully encapsulated and potted in a biocompatible material. The detachable tip includes serrated atraumatic contact surfaces that mechanically define the tip separation but contain no electronic components and tolerate high-temperature sterilization. Sensor in a handle region read the encoder, apply a calibration hinction to compute absolute tip-to-tip distance, and display the measurement in real time. This architecture preserves atraumatic tissue handling and sterile practice while enabling accurate dimensional documentation during grossing.w
