MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631111109 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Rourkela on September 16, 2026, for Microfluidic Device For Multianalyte Sensing From Complex Biofluids.

Inventors include Pragyan Ray; Pradeep Kumar Verma; and Prasoon Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT MICROFLUIDIC DEVICE FOR MULTIANALYTE SENSING FROM COMPLEX BIOFLUIDS A microfluidic device (100) for multianalyte sensing from complex biofluids comprises a porous cellulose substrate formed into curvilinear strips (14), each having an inner arc (14a) and outer arc (14b). The differing path lengths between the arcs, for the same subtended angle, produce a differential hydraulic resistance generating a transverse capillary pressure gradient across the strip width. A backing layer (16) at the paper-backing interface, having a hydrophilic or hydrophobic wettability characteristic, modulates capillary flow velocity and transverse fluid distribution in combination with this gradient. A housing assembly, comprising a base plate (18) with radially oriented strip slots (12) and an outer cover (19), retains the strips (14), while a central fluid inlet zone (22) with a perforated distribution mat (24) delivers fluid to each strip's inlet end (22). A reaction zone at the outer arc (14b) of each strip carries a distinct colorimetric reagent for multianalyte detection. [[FIGURE 3A]]
