Abstract: A microextraction patch for extraction of antibiotic residues and method of preparation thereof is provided. The microextraction sampling patch includes a substrate coated with hydrophilic-lipophilic balanced (HLB) polymer polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for simultaneous extraction of both polar and non-polar antibiotic residues from complex sample matrices. The sampling patch configuration provides enhanced surface area, resulting in improved extraction efficiency and sensitivity. The extracted analytes are subsequently desorbed and analyzed using Gas Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry for accurate trace-level quantification. The disclosure overcomes limitations of conventional extraction techniques by reducing solvent consumption, minimizing sample preparation steps, and improving selectivity in complex matrices. Additionally, the method aligns with green analytical chemistry principles by ensuring reduced environmental impact and waste generation. The developed microextraction sampling patch provides a rapid, reliable, and cost-effective approach for routine monitoring of antibiotic residues in food safety applications.
