MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631086550 A) filed by Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University on July 15, 2026, for Microbial Formulation For Promoting Plant Growth And Method Of Production Thereof.
Inventors include Raghunath Kisku; Aman Jaiswal; and Asish Kumar Panda.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein a microbial formulation for promoting plant growth and a method producing the same. The formulation comprises 20% v/v bacterial cell-free supernatant recovered from a bacterial consortium culture, 20% v/v bacterial consortium culture, and 60% v/v a sterilized liquid carrier containing 0.1-0.5 % w/v carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC), 25 -50 % w/v Luria–Bertani, 1-3 % v/v Humic Acid, 3-5 % v/v glycerol, 0.5-1.5 % v/v polysorbate 80, 5-10 % v/v Banana pseudostem sap, and 0.1-0.2% w/v potassium sorbate relative to total volume of the microbial formulation. The bacterial consortium culture comprises three Bacillus safensis strains and two Microbacterium arborescens strains co-cultured in Luria–Bertani medium for 48–72 hours. The combination of viable microbial cells and bioactive metabolites in the cell-free supernatant enhances production of plant growth-promoting substances and improves nutrient solubilization, thereby increasing microbial stability, colonization efficiency, and plant growth. The invention further provides an effective liquid microbial formulation suitable for agricultural applications to enhance crop productivity and soil health. Fig. 1
