Abstract: ABSTRACT BIOREMEDIATION OF POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS AND METHOD OF PREPARATION THEREOF The present invention relates to a composition for bioremediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons comprising spores of a microbial component comprising Athelia bombacina strain GTG3, and/or a carrier component comprising one or more carriers. The fungal strain GTG3 strain is active over a pH range of 3.0 to 8.0, a temperature range of 15° C to 55° C, and a salinity range of 10 g/L to 32 g/L. Athelia bombacina strain GTG3 produces an extracellular ligninolytic enzyme complex comprising laccase, lignin peroxidase, and manganese peroxidase. The present invention also relates a method for bioremediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, comprising the steps of: preparing a microbial inoculum of Athelia bombacina strain and blending the microbial inoculum with a carrier component comprising wheat bran or talc powder and inoculating it in the contaminated soil or water.
