The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: Knife sharpness is an important factor that affects cutting efficiency, safety, and the overall performance of cutting tools. Over time, knives become dull due to continuous use, friction, and wear at the blade edge. Traditional sharpening methods such as whetstones and manual grinders require skill, time, and experience to achieve proper sharpening angles and consistent results. These limitations create a need for a faster, more efficient, and user-friendly sharpening solution. Design and development of an Electric Micro-Edge Knife Sharpener that restores the sharpness of knife blades using a motor-driven abrasive grinding mechanism. The system consists of a DC motor, abrasive grinding wheels, speed controller, adapter power supply, and a protective housing. When the device is powered on, the DC motor rotates the grinding wheels at high speed. The knife blade is inserted into a guided slot that maintains a fixed sharpening angle, allowing the abrasive wheels to remove small amounts of metal from the blade edge and restore its sharpness. The proposed system provides faster sharpening, improved blade edge quality, and reduced manual effort compared to traditional sharpening methods. The device is compact, cost-effective, and easy to operate, making it suitable for household and small-scale applications. The results demonstrate that the electric knife sharpener improves cutting performance and extends the lifespan of knife blades through controlled sharpening.
