Abstract: Methods and systems for producing peptides and proteins The invention relates to a method for in vitro synthesis of a peptide or protein comprising transcribing a DNA into RNA in a first reaction container comprising the DNA and an enzyme capable of transcribing the DNA into RNA, introducing the RNA into a second reaction container, and translating the RNA into a peptide or protein in the second reaction container, wherein the first reaction container and the second reaction container are connected. The DNA is immobilized on a solid support and the components used are purified components. The invention further relates to a system for reconstituted cell-free protein synthesis useful in such method and uses thereof.
