MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541007930 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. , Ltd. on January 30, 2025, for Methods And Systems For Prioritizing Band Scanning During An Evolved Packet System Fallback Procedure.
Inventors include Gupta, Srijan; Nagarajan, Shanthossh; and Guha, Shouvik.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method (600) for prioritizing band scanning during an evolved packet system (200) fallback (EPSFB) procedure. The method (600) includes receiving (602), by a user equipment (UE) (202), a redirection message from a network during a release with redirection (RwR). The redirection message specifying a first frequency belonging to a first band. Further, initiating (604), by the UE (202), to camp on the first frequency in the first band as redirected by the network. Further, the method (600) includes detecting (606), by the UE (202), a failure to camp on the first frequency based on the initiation. Further, the method (600) includes scanning (608), by the UE (202), additional frequencies within the first band specified in the redirection message before scanning any additional frequencies belonging to other bands.
