Abstract: Methods and systems for facilitating payments through a satellite connection are disclosed. The method performed by a server system includes encoding a payment transaction request into a request signal with a first frequency band for transmission from an electronic device associated with a user to a payment server through satellite(s). The method includes identifying a target-pointing direction in which the electronic device needs to be pointed to establish a link with the satellite(s). In response to establishing the link with the satellite(s), the method includes transmitting the request signal from the electronic device to the payment server through the link. In response to a completion of the payment transaction to the merchant, the method includes receiving a confirmation signal including payment acknowledgment message with a second frequency band on the electronic device from the payment server through the link.
