Abstract: A method and apparatus for video coding are disclosed. According to this method, input data associated with a current block is received, wherein the input data comprises pixel data to be encoded at an encoder side or coded data associated with the current block to be decoded at a decoder side. A previous coded block for the current block is determined, wherein the previous coded block generates TIMD (Template-based Intra Mode Derivation) information or has stored TIMD information. Inheritance information of TIMD is derived from the previous coded block, wherein the inheritance information of TIMD comprises reference line information, wide- angle condition, or both. Target prediction for the current block is generated by using the inheritance information of TIMD. The current block is encoded or decoded by using information comprising the target prediction.
