Abstract: A method includes: transmitting, by a user equipment (UE) to a network apparatus, an indication that the UE supports an operational state of dual connectivity (DC) to receive non-contiguous intra-band carriers as a fragmented carrier aggregation (CA) configuration within a fragmented NR frequency band; receiving an indication from the network apparatus that the fragmented (CA) configuration increases a carrier count; and receiving, by the UE from the network apparatus, an indication granting further carriers for further bandwidth.
