Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing biogenic ZnO nanoparticles using clutia pulchella were synthesized using an aqueous extract of Clutia pulchella leaves, which acted as a natural reducing and stabilizing agent. Key reaction parameters—including precursor concentration, extract ratio, pH, temperature, and reaction time—were systematically optimized to achieve stable nanoparticles with controlled size and morphology. The resulting ZnO NPs were characterized through UV–Vis, FTIR, SEM–EDS, XRD, DLS, and zeta potential analyses, confirming their crystalline wurtzite structure, nanoscale dimensions (~32 nm), and excellent colloidal stability. Their anticorrosive performance on mild steel in 0.5 M HCl was assessed using weight loss measurements, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The nanoparticles demonstrated up to 89% inhibition efficiency, attributed to the formation of a protective ZnO barrier layer reinforced by phytochemical capping.
