MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631105741 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Rourkela Nit Rourkela on September 02, 2026, for Method Of Preparing Bioencapsulated Microbial Polymeric Biobeads For Plant Growth.

Inventors include Das, Surajit; and Panda, Sourav Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides bioencapsulated microbial polymeric biobeads comprising a compatible consortium of Pseudomonas oryzihabitans GAT2212B and Aspergillus niger KCRE2202F immobilized within a microbial-derived biopolymer and sodium alginate matrix cross-linked with calcium ions. The microbial biopolymer comprises bacterial extracellular polymeric substance (EPS), fungal extracellular matrix (ECM), or a combination thereof, providing protection, enhanced viability, and controlled release of the encapsulated microorganisms. The biobeads exhibit improved stress tolerance, prolonged microbial survival, rhizosphere colonization, and nutrient mobilization, and promotes seed germination, vegetative growth, photosynthetic performance, biomass accumulation, and crop productivity, thereby providing a biodegradable and sustainable biofertilizer platform for agricultural applications.
